We will start with from our own country. The first one is the death of our legendary goalkeeper Datuk R. Arumugam who is so good that he is popularly known as “The Spiderman”. Along with our legendary football players like Mokhtar Dahari, Santokh Singh, Soh Chin Aun and other they had made our national football team one of the best during 70’s and 80’s. Unfortunately, the life of this man was taken in a car crash on 18 December 1988 at the Federal Highway near Petaling Jaya. He was 35 when this accident happens but his name and action are still remembered by the nostalgic football fan especially the Malaysian national team and Selangor football club.
Another high-profile person that had lost his life in a car accident is the fearless man who believed that nobody is above the law. This man had famously sued the King of Malaysia Sultan Iskandar in 1986 and due to his courage and the fearless character he had been dubbed as “Tiger of Jelutong”. He is no other than the former DAP member and the fearless lawyer Karpal Singh. Unfortunately, at the age of 75, Karpal Singh life had been taken out in a car accident at the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung, Perak. In the honors for this man, the IJM Promenade in Lebuh Sungai Pinang was renamed as Persiaran Karpal Singh or Karpal Singh Drive. Due to his character of fighting justice, speaking out for the underdog and victim and believed that nobody is above the law, the term of Karpal had been coined for those who had the similar traits.
From our country, now we will look at some of the accident that had robbed the life of the famous personality in the foreign countries. This accident had taken the life of a man that was called as the cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement and he is the first actor to receive a posthumous Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and remains the only actor to have had two posthumous acting nominations. He is James Dean, the American actor who had his life taken out in a car accident at the young age of 24. James Dean is an avid motor racing fan but tragically some passion had taken his life when in 1950 Dean whom driving a Porsche 550 Spyder that had been called “The Little Bastard” and when he is traveling in an event on the US Route 466, a Ford Tudor was passing through in the intersection while turning. The actor whom unable to stop, slammed the Ford Tudor that had caused his passenger Wutherich to be thrown away from the car and James Dean was trapped in the car and sustained numerous fatal injuries, including a broken neck and he had been pronounced dead on arrival shortly after he arrived by ambulance at the Paso Robles War Memorial Hospital at 6:20 p.m.
Again, the car brand Porsche is involved in another car accident that had robbed another famous actor life. This time the Porsche car is the Porsche Carrera GT and the actor that had lost his life this time is Paul Walker, the man whom famously acted in the movie Fast and Furious movie instalment and he had acted in all 6 of them and portrayed the role of Brian O’Conner, the street races in these movies. His tragic accident had happened in 30th November 2013 when he and Roger Rodas whom travelling to a charity event Reached Out Worldwide for the Typhoon Haiyan victim that was organized by Paul Walker himself had crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees and caught fire at the Hercules Street near Kelly Johnson Parkway in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California and more tragically both Walker and Roger body had been burned beyond recognition. His death had been mourned by all his fans around the world.
For the wrestling fan in the 80’s, the name Macho Man Randy Savage surely will be a first on their mind after Hulk Hogan. His shining dress, majestic entrance music, raunchy voices, great promos, and finally the finisher elbow from the top rope is a classic moment for them. He had risen to a famous height under Vince McMahon’s WWF (now known as WWE) and moved to WCW before he had retired for good from the professional wrestling industries. His life too had been taken in a car accident when in 20th May 2011, he had suffered a heart attack while driving Jeep Wrangler that had made him lose control of the car and crashing into a tree. The wrestling world had mourned his death and recognized his contribution when he had been inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 2015 by WWE.
Finally, another popular name life that had been taken out in the car accident is nonother than the beautiful, compassionate, and monarch rule breaker Diana Frances Spencer or more famously known as Princess Diana of Wales. She had a dream life when she had become the member of the British royal family by becoming the first wife of Prince Charles of Wales on 29th July 1981. However, thing apparently did take a dramatic twist for her and in July 1996, the royal couple had agreed on the term for divorce, the first ever divorce in the British Royal Family and a year later in 31st August 1997, her life that had seen many ups and downs, had been taken away in car accident Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris. Her funeral that was showed in a live television in the 6th December 1997 had been watched by 32.10 million and it becomes one of the United Kingdom’s highest viewing figures ever.
This famous personality life had been taken away by a car accident and some of them had died at a very young age like James Dean. Their death had become the headliners due to their high-profile status. The car accident that took a life is something that is so devastating and tragic as it will lead to loss of the family member, relatives, and friends.
