When purchasing a car whether it is a new car or second-hand car, they are several factors that will be considered by the potential buyer such as the price, car brand model popularity, the brand reliability, comfort and space, performances, interior design and many more. Another factor that will attract potential buyers such as NVH, horsepower and torque and many more. In a Paultan Driven episode, the character of Sam Loo had been so supportive of the Toyota brand based on another factor and that is the resale value factor. The resale value or RV is another factor that is considered by the potential buyer who is not in a situation to break the bank account to purchase a car.

The resale value most of the time will be a factor when purchasing a Continental or Japanese car. When purchasing a locally made car like Proton or Perodua it will not be taken into consideration due to the price where the Japanese and Continental car like Lexus, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Mercedez Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo is slightly higher or considerably higher depends on the model than the locally made car.

In term of the resale value, the Japanese car fares better than the Continental car. Japanese car like the Toyota and Honda had a high resale value compared with Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi and much more whom also is a Japanese made. Toyota and Honda had a considerable resale value due to the car low maintenance and due to the car is a more popular choice than the other Japanese car brand. Toyota and Honda car model like Camry, Accord, Civic, City, Vios, Corolla Altis, CRV and much more are popular among the car lovers even for the second-hand model hence making the resale value better for these cars.

Where the Japanese car had a better resale value, the Continental car like BMW, Mercedez Benz, Audi, Jaguar, Volkswagen, Volvo and much more had far than considerable resale value than the Japanese car. Among these brand, Mercedez Benz had a better resale value among all these car brand. BMW although had a low resale value but one factor that made them a popular choice among the car lovers is the popularity of the car in our country where both Mercedez Benz and BMW is the most popular German car or in simple term most popular continental car in our country.

Other Continental car brand like Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, Land Rover and much more had a very low resale value as this brand is the least popular choice and very high on maintenance. Although Volkswagen is fared better in this due to the cheaper price among all the Continental car, still the resale value had dropped significantly due to DSG issue that had made many of the brand lovers irate and make a formal complaint at the Volkswagen Bangsar and also, they are Facebook pages for this particular problem. Although the issue had been resolved many still unconvinced by these.

The DSG issue is one of the factors that had made the Volkswagen having a low resale value

Why had the resale value become one of the factors in choosing a car? In Malaysia due to the extremely high tax and the levy charged to the foreign car it had made the price of the foreign car more expensive. In the South-East Asia region, the car price in Singapore is the highest as to own a car in Singapore the potential buyer also need to purchase the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) for owning a car and this had made potential buyer paying a double price for owning a car in Singapore. Singapore had made this kind of rule due to the land issue but in our country, the car price is increased to a higher price due to the government protection for the Proton car.

Due to the enormously high price paid by the car lovers to own a car in term of deposit and the monthly installment it is not common things for some to own the car for more than 3 or 5 years, hence when selling the car, the owner will expect a good price for the car. If compared to the properties where the price can increase considerably in the future, the car price will depreciate once the car lovers had bought the car. For the car that had a high resale value, the user can take some profits from it while the car that had a low resale value it will be lost for the car lovers.

Due to this factor, some of the car lovers will love to emphasize on this factor when they had purchased a car that had a high resale value like the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. There is some logic on these factor as many of us will sell the car once we had used for more than 3 years or 5 years hence the user will expect a better resale value on the car.

For Continental car, although they are still popular they will be hard hit when they need to sell the car due to the low resale value. This is one of the factors that had made the car brand like Toyota and Honda so popular among the car lovers as both had a good resale value. The Toyota and Honda car performance although is not good as the Continental car but the resale value for both car it at the top in the best resale value hence making it one of the favorite car among the car lovers in our country.

The resale value although it is not a consideration for some when purchasing a car, it is still a factor for some of the car lovers hence the car that good or great resale value will be the popular choices and we can expect the Toyota and Honda to be in the top of the list for many more years to come . For Continental car even though they have a great performance but when comes to selling the car the resale value of the car is not on the good side.
